Anyone have a bicycle seat for baby that you love?

I would love to get one for my 13 month old for this summer. Have the breeze in our hair and great exercise and freshness...I want the best for a good price, no more than $60 give or take. I am not sure what to look for. Any ideas or advice? I don't mind shopping online either, but I am not sure where to go and Google is just killin me today.

Also, a baby helmet too...?

I have absolutely no advice about what brand to get, I'm sorry. If you have a large sporting goods store near you that may be worth looking at. Chances are they would have some.

Mostly I'm just wanting to answer saying that I love the idea of a bicycle seat rather than a trailer. Everyone says that if you fall baby falls too, which is going to happen with a seat or a trailer. With a seat the baby is strapped in and protected on three sides like with a car seat. I'm more paranoid with the trailers. They make the bike longer, which means that you have more of an opportunity for a car or another bike to hit the trailer if they aren't paying attention. Plus if you fall on the bike the trailer is going to tip too, and often kids aren't as secured in them as they would be in a seat.

Here are two that I found on amazon. I think both look great, but for a younger toddler I would go with the one that has head support. The front mounted one looks like it would have better stability for the rest of the bike, but it looks a bit scary.

Is it legal to carry a Baby while riding a bicyle?

Me and my husband have a month old baby and wanted to go on a bike ride together and were just curious if it would be even legal to have a baby with you in one of those baby bjorn front harness things. Obviously we would just buy a child carrier seat but you cant use those until they are 1 year. If it is illegal does anyone know a seat or anything like that so we can take her on a bikeride with us? Also for the record it is just like an old school cruiser bike not a mountain bike or anything.

Legal...? Yes or No, depending on where you live (i.e. LOCAL jurisdiction and state laws). For example, in California, children less than six years or under 60 pounds MUST be in an DOT-approved restraining seat and secured. If less than 18 years old, they must also be wearing a safety helmet, even on a bicycle. Not just any old helmet, either. It must be fastened and securely fitted, and meet The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards.

Is it Wise...? Safe...? Nope! You are at far greater risk on a bicycle, because traffic doesn't see or acknowledge you like they would a car. There are also pot holes on the roads that can cause head and neck problems to very young children.

Helmets on lots of websites (motosports, moose racing, etc.) have?

I am not a

small, medium, large, x- large, etc.

I'm 5'11" about 180Lbs. normally proportioned . I know I would need at least a large, how much of a difference is there between large and x-large...would an x-large be too loose compared to a large?

unless you know EXACTLY your size and the fittings of the brand you're looking at don't buy online. go to a local bike shop and try some on; best of all you're supporting local business

Is there any helmets that come in X-large, or anything that would fit very large hair underneath of it?

I have a fairly new guy friend who wants to come and see what it's like to ride horses. He has dreadlocks though, and I guarantee none of the helmets at my barn or any of the helmets I own would fit on his head....

Either way, I know that a helmet isn't going to fit on his head...
He's over 18 so technically he wouldn't have to wear a helmet, but I refuse to be responsible for that because he has never ridden before in his life. So I am not going to be the one that puts him on a horse without a helmet!

Do they special make large helmets? Has anyone had to deal with a student that needed a larger helmet?

He really wants to come with me, so I'm sure he would buy a helmet for it as long as it's not extremely expensive.

they do make XL riding helmets (we have them where i volunteer) but i highly doubt you'll find one big enough to fit over dreads. dreads don't really...squish down...if you know what i mean. you can't just shove a helment over them like you can thick hair.

you guys can try farm and fleet, some have larger sizes, but most only carry S & M.

i guess your best bet (if your only other option is riding helmet-less) would be to get a skate boarding helmet. it's more heavy-duty than a bike helmet and you're fairly likely to find one that will fit over dreads.

edit: yeah meagan, what do you think riding is!? we've got our own lingo & world-get with it :P
