I want to start up bicycling as a sport and I was hoping I could find a club or organization that allows teens to participate in races. Does anyone know of one? Also do you need any special gear for biking other than a bike, helmet and appropriate clothes? Thx! :)

You can check the two main bike racing associations for list of events.

The good thing about racing as a teen (technically called Junior) a lot of races are free, or has a deep discount to encourage youth racing. There are typically two disciplines, either Mountain bike racing or road racing, so it'll work better if you have one specific for the type you're doing (although you could still race whatever you have, depends on the rules for the race).
Definitely starting at your local shop would be the best source, since a lot of shop guys/gals are into racing as well.

Of course, since he couldn't walk yet, much less pedal, he would sit in a special little baby seat just for him." Wow gwampa', asked a bewildered Isabelle, 'daddy was once a baby?" "Oh yes', chuckled Billy, 'more than you'll ever know. Now hop on, we're going for a bike ride." As Billy strapped Isabelle into her seat, she felt a little scared. "Don't worry Isabelle', Billy soothed as he noticed the anxiety on her face, 'just put on this magic helmet and nothing can happen to you." But the helmet was uncomfortable and Isabelle was still a little scared. "Gwampa? I wanna get down." "Of course, come here." And Billy carried Isabelle down. "I know, said Billy, why don't we sit under the apple tree?" As Billy sat down, Isabelle cuddled next to him.
