My friends say it is.
Answer
why would it be? is your friend saying it's better to get a concussion and die than to live and be fine? your friend's an idiot. wear a helmet or you'll find yourself in a hospital bed soon.

How to convince my parents about letting me ride a motorcycle?
Jin Bae
I'm 19 years old, my college issues are a little fucked up so I'm just waiting for a reply on my appeal now.
I'm currently working at a photo imaging company as a clerk, but we're moving our company location
where it is not walking/riding(bicycle) distance. I've been riding fixed gear/roadie bikes for a couple of years, and I've done messenger work before too. I know how dangerous it can get in traffic on a 2 wheel.
Now I'm planning to buy a ninja kawasaki 250r, probably a used 2000~2008 model
but I have NO idea how to convince my parents. They're usually open minded but
they are a bit protective since I'm the only child, and my father had an accident a little more than
a decade ago riding a motorcycle which gave him a broken leg and a neck brace for awhile.
I'm willing to buy good gears such as helmets, boots, riding jackets, gloves, etc. I'm also willing to take the MSF course.
I do have a driving license but I do not have a car. My parents refuse to give me a car or buying me one due to finances. We have two cars, and only one car is in use. I consider myself a safe driver, and I don't understand why I can't get the car or motorcycle when I'm going to pay for it myself.
I know that my parents are refusing to give me the car so I'm considering buying a motorcycle since it's cheaper. How should I convince them? or worst comes to worst, how should I hide the fact that I'll be driving one?
yeah i do live at home for now because idk how my college stuff is going to work out.
if i get to goto college, then i'm moving into a dorm. if not, i'll move out with a couple of friends and i wont have this problem then haha but for now I need a driving vehicle asap.
I've been looking at used ninja 250Rs, I don't think I can get a decent car at that price considering mileage it has and gas money
Answer
Just tell them that a bike suits you better, its cheaper on fuel, easier to get around and park, simple on maintenance and to get anything done on or fixed on it is generally a lot cheaper then a car,
Let them know you are buying good gear and taking the course so you are doing everything you can to stay safe.
