Are there any cute bike helmets for teenage girls?

I just moved and we moved on post. I didn't ride my bike with a helmet before, but you have to here. Are there any cute or more fashionable ones?

Do lots of internet searches as there are millions of designs online. Short of that, visit as many cycling stores as you can and try on helmets.

Don't feel too self conscious about it though.. if everyone has to wear a helmet, everyone will be in the same boat as you.

im 15, im a girl and I don't drive, the purpose of my bike is literally so I can get from point A to point B in less time and energy it would take to walk.
My town is really small and where I go theres hardly any people on the sidewalks like ever and I honestly never see people wear helmets with their bikes.
I'm not riding fast, i'm not riding in the street (I was hit by a car when I was 4 so I can't handle riding in streets honestly, cars or not) is it seriously necessary to wear a huge helmet ?

If I was like my brother who has a racing bike and goes 20 mi each day just for fun up and down mountains and such then I could understand it and stuff, but really im on uncrowded streets/sidewalks going slowly (i have lights also for night) and not going incredibly far. is it really necessary?

Without being quite as harsh and benjamin... He is absolutely right. It is the law for anyone under 18 to wear a helmet and it is flat out idiotic to not want to wear one because you "honestly never see people wear helmets"... Not to mention, its also the law that you need to ride IN the street... Sidewalks are for pedestrian traffic, not bikes.

As for being a girl, I really fail to see how that matters at all... ditto for you not driving and the size of your town. As for not riding fast, you can sustain a significant head injury at WALKING speeds falling to the pavement so any speed is fast enough to leave you drooling on yourself the rest of your life.

So, in short... YES, it really is necessary.

Does a 13 year old girl need to wear a bike helmet when she is riding her bike in the neighborhood? Also when she rides its usually with a friends so its not like she is by herself.

Yes, a helmet is critical t your safety. I investigate accidents. Most cycling accident do not happen with cars, but accidents where the rider errors. I recently had a critical head injury where there was NO speed involved. The rider simply slipped while standing on a wet sidewalk! Man of these riders were experienced and had good cycling skills. They just made a simple (but ultimately critical) riding error. It happens in a split second.

I have ridden at a high level my entire life. A helmet has saved me twice! You will never be as good a bike handler as the pros...l yet they wear one each and every time they go out for a ride. GET THE HINT?

I ride western and don't ware a helmet. My 7 year old daughter wants to start learning how to ride, and of coarse must ware a helmet! I have not yet bought one for her, but I am going to. The horse that she'll start learning on is my soon to be 16 yro gelding, he is very well behaved and I trust him, but anything can happen and I want my girl to be safe just incase... So my questions are
#1. Could she ware her bike helmet for now, just untill I get her a proper helmet? Or is that a bad idea?

#2. How much do kids helmets cost? It wouldn't matter if it's english or western... It's just to protect her head, but she will be riding western too :)

*donald your an idiot! There are western styled riding helmets. There are even cowboy hat helmets, look it up you prick! And there is nothing "creepy" about the way I talk about my girl! 1. No. Most children's bike helmets are little more than styrofoam with a decorative plastic shell. They will protect your child's head from short falls at slow speeds, considering that children on bikes generally don't end up going, say, 30 miles per hour. A bicycle helmet will do little to protect your child's head in the event of a fall from a horse. Go get her an ASTM-SEI certified horseback riding helmet.

2. Depends on the helmet brand, some are cheap some are wicked expensive. Troxel tends to be on the cheaper side as far as pricing goes. Just make sure you get her an ASTM-SEI certified helmet, a brand new one, and whatever price you pay you will know it is adequate to protect your child's head.

For example, if you go meet some friends at a restaurant, or go play pool somewhere, do motorcyclist carry their helmets all night? Also is there anyway to secure the helmet to the bike with some type of retractable chain or something?

Just make it part of your persona. People seeing you walking down the street or into a restaurant. Helmet...boom. That guy rides. "Hey, what type of bike... " etc. You get a lot of that. Girls like rides on bikes too. Hey, i'm not complaining. So personally, I look forward to carrying my bucket around.

If you don't like helmets, attach a dust pan and mini broom to your ride. That way EMT can sweep your brains up easier!

Basically, use it for safety. No brainer. Wow, that's a bad joke but also accentuate it to your advantage.

Thankfully, there's no such thing as a girl's bike. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a girl's bike.

Don't think of yourself as a girl, think of yourself as short - if you are. And not overly muscled.

Get a bike on which you can reach the ground firmly. If you're very short, you can get most bikes lowered enough, and you can also do things to the seat and your boots which will help you reach the ground. And on which you are comfortable in reaching the bars. And light enough that you can back it up without help. Don't worry about being strong enough to lift it - there are techniques you can use. There are also guys you can use in most situations, unless you ride in Nowheresville.

That's about all I can tell you without knowing more about what you want from a bike. That will point you in a particular direction.

If you're interested in riding but don't have experience, sign up for a course. They supply the bike, you supply gloves, boots, helmet and jacket. And you learn - how to ride and whether you want to do this.
