Will a bicycle helmet work the same as a riding helmet?

Bicycle helmets are cheaper so I was wondering if getting one of those instead of a riding helmet would still be as safe?
Asking this for a friend!
I personally don't wear riding helmets, but the little kids I give lessons to are required.

i would use a riding helmet...you don't want to be cheap with your life. here is a helmet that i got http://2wheelbikes.com/greenline-36-adult-bike-helmets.html and it was great. but again its a bike helmet. better safe than sorry.

I'm 14 and i recently got a ticket for not wearing a bicycle helmet and i have no clue on what to do. The cop didn't give me clear instructions. I heard him say that the fine is $150 but that sounds like way too much. I've heard its $25 but i'm not sure. Does anyone know the price and does anyone know what i have to do cuz i have no idea. This is also my first one.

dude i just went to court the other day for not wearing a bicycle helmet. im 18, but when i got it two months ago i was 17. if this is the first ticket you got just go to court (an hour before the given time cause the line is a bitch) and plead guilty and they'll let you off with a warning, next time you get a ticket you'll have to pay the fine, about $20-30 me thinks

Where is a face sheild for a bicycle helmet?

I would like to know where to find on the Web a bicycle helmet either with a built-in face shield (covering the actual eyes and face, not just a "peak" like the brim of a baseball cap), or a separate face shield that you can attach to a helmet to cover your eyes and face.

Try not to limit your focus to visors on the "time trial" style bicycle helmets. No references to motorcycle-only helmets please! I am referring to bicycle helmets.

I think you are looking for a BMX helmet.. Those would have wraparound chin guards, and popular bicycle accessory brands like Giro and Bell offer them. These BMX helmets are lightweight and rated for bicycle use, not for motorcycle use. Though if you want something heavier-duty, you can get motorcross helmets.
