I have a few questions about mountain bike helmets.?

I recently got back in mountain biking and its about time i start wearing a helmet before something bad happens.I like the looks of the skateboarding style of helmet,and im not thrilled with the looks of the regular mountain bike helmets,do people ever wear the skating helmets on mountain bikes? I realize the looks are not whats important but if i dont like the way it looks i probably wont end up wearing it.I am not doing much extreme stuff on the bike so i dont need a full face helmet. can anyone suggest a helmet or any info to help me out, thanks a lot

there lots of mountain bike helmets that look like skate helmets and as far as safety goes all helmets have to do the same cores so if some one tells you a $300 dollar helmets safer the the $50 dollar one they don't know what there talking about. my Buddy works for Bell and has for 6 years what you pay for is style ,fit,air dams ,waight ext a . so go get what you want to wear man a helmets better then no helmet just make sure you get a good fit or it might do you no good when it comes time to put it to the test.Giro or bell maybe 661 there good places to start looking. good luck have fun and be safe..

Is having a mountain bike helmet worth getting when you have a good motocross helmet already?

okay, so here's my delema, my motocross helmet seems like it is just a little too cumbersome for when I'm riding my mountain bike, so I've been looking into a full face MTB helmets such as the lightweight carbon fiber ones that weigh just about 2lbs whereas my motocross helmet weighs 3.6lbs. So if any avid mountain bikers that could help me out before I possibly go spend upwards of one to two hundred dollars that I didn't need to spend. Thanks

It's your head, and it's the only one you're going to get. So do whatever makes you comfortable.

I see people riding my local trail, which is pretty much flat, with full-face helmets on and that's fine if that's what they feel comfortable with. I also see people wearing woolie hats, and that's just stupid.

Me, I ride with something inbetween - either a Fox Flux or a Nutcase, depending on my mood. The Nutcase is just like the one in the pic below, except mine's autographed by Gary Fisher :)

is DH helmet,full face mountain bike helmet are smaller than offroad motorcycle helmet ?

i wanna buy helmet for riding all around the mountain.
but i want its capacity and weigh be not too heavy,
can DH helmet for mountain bike and off road motorcycle helmet for mountain be used for crossed way? i mean if i ride a bike on the mountain wearing the off road motorcycle helmet, can it be too heavy or out of capacity.

if the motor and bike helmet size are same, is it about to equal the capacity and weigh ?

Nowadays motorcycle helmets are quite light and you can comfortably use an off-road motorcycle helmet for mountain biking.

Go downtown at Quiapo(where i bought most of my road and mountain bike parts). The opposite side of the church where the road goes towards España. 10 bicycle stores you can choose from. Also at Cartimar, lots of bicycle stores too. If you prefer airconditioning convinience go to SM Manila's sports stores.

It depends where you live and where you ride.

When I'm in my nieghborhood at slow speeds, a helmet is just as stupid of an idea as it is to not wear one when I'm mountain biking.

Freedom to use good judgement is supposed to be the American way. Unfortunately our legal system has forced us to behave and think like we're sheep.

It would be a lot more heavy and probably look a little foolish. But if that's all you have. All you need to mountain bike is the bike, gloves, and a helmet. It helps to have the right clothes. Also a tire pump will come in handy.
