Silly question: Can you wear glasses under a motorbike helmet?

Ellie Harp

AND, if you can, do you keep them on while you put it on or put them on once you've put them on?
My glasses are prisms, so I don't "have" to wear them, but I get bad headaches without them so I wear them all the time. I wouldn't want to ride a bike without them.

Answer
Yes, you can wear glasses in most helmets. I do.

Try the helmet before you buy it.

You put the helmet on, then put your glasses on. You will have to remove the glasses to remove a full face helmet.

a good motorbike for beginners?

An Atheist

ok so i have nearly persuaded my mum and dad to buy me a motorbike but i am not sure what to get i want a 125cc but not sure on make and model i dont want a moped either.
what items to get aswell, i have a jacket and i know i need a helmet, do i really need gloves and boots?
and i have to wear glasses but wont they steam up when wearing my helmet?

Answer
No, your glasses will not steam up. Modern full face and modular helmets are well vented.
I wear boots, gloves helmet, goggles and long sleeves when I ride. Your feet are right down there where all the action is, you want your ankles covered.
When you fall it is natural tho throw your hands out to catch yourself. You want full finger gloves with padded palms. Catching a rock or bug on the finger can really hurt.

Take lessons. Ride safe. Have fun.

CD with long title cracked in the car without a reason?

Ciccio Mia

Help, in the car of my best friend today, something really weird happened. We were three people in the car, two males one female, all adults, sober. Two of them are in a heterosexual relationship. At a certain point of our delightful ride, a CD with its cover (the thin case) unexpectedly cracked in two pieces without any logic reason.
The radio was playing a cd of "Metallica", "And Justice for All" and the CD in question was "Until The World Is Happy; Wake Up You Sleepyhead Sun" from the band "Small Leaks Sink Ships". It is important to say that the CD was placed inside the case of the Metallica's album.
It is a mistery that is killing us, we are struggling for the solution. We are now 5 people adult, with few booze not even tipsy. Can you please, help us?

Answer
Interesting, but there's no reason to think anything paranormal happened. I'd take a guess that stress in the plastic caused a hairline crack that eventually caused the CD to split. I know that can happen with glass if it is not cooled down slowly when it is made, I don't know if it can happen with polycarbonate (what CDs are made of), but maybe it can.

Edit:
"Polycarbonate and polysulfone are particularly sensitive to stress cracks."

To stop this happening the plastic is annealed, which is the same process as is used for glass. So it seems your CD wasn't annealed properly.

Or... maybe you put some liquid or a sticker on it...
"Polycarbonate is extremely tough as you mention. However, it is also extremely sensitive to liquids that come in contact with it and will become weakened and crack. This problem is well known and is called environmental stress cracking. It's the reason you can't put stickers on your motorbike helmet."

Is it possible to get cheap, safe and efficient private everyday travel?

Darkhoodne

I want to make spontaneous private journeys of varying long and short distances both safely and cheaply. Is this unrealistic? Must I bite the bullet and pay through the nose with a car or unaffordably-priced public transport, or put my life at risk when using a motorbike or a bicycle? Or is there another solution to this that I havenât considered?

---Long winded explanation---

This questionâs had me stumped for a couple of years. I'm unlucky enough to have friends and family that all live far away from me (but in the same country - I'm talking between 50 and 200 miles away), and also most nearby employment hubs are infuriatingly hard to get to when using public transport (not to mention the extortionate travel costs).

I live in the UK. Currently I go longer distances by train with a discount 16-25 railcard that will expire next year because I'll be too old to use it - Train prices are rising and are becoming unaffordable for frequent journeys (£30 return to go just 50 miles is stupid when I'm sure it cost £17 five years ago - I'd be paying that twice a month). Buses are slow and are also very expensive (hourly service, 2 and a half hours to go 16 miles and charging me £4 is unacceptable).

For shorter local distances I use my bicycle, but the UK's cyclist infrastructure is terrible (or non-existent) so I'm forced to use the roads, putting myself in danger from incompetent/disrespectful motorists (I've lost count of the near-misses - They're becoming more frequent with every passing year) despite following the rules of the road, learning extra tips on road safety and making myself visible from space. Putting my life at risk isn't something I'm willing to do any more.

I'd like to get a car but fuel prices are rising through the roof and are set to rise further. Electric cars don't have the range on them to do what I'd want them to do, plus the infrastructure for them isn't really in place yet. "Efficient" petrol, diesel and hybrid/electric models on the market now are extortionately priced or are still expensive to run and maintain anyway.

There are cars on the horizon that will be more affordable (or at least worth buying at high prices considering the lifetime fuel savings) and do what I'd want (like the Gordon Murray T.25), but they won't be available for a long while, and only IF they're successful.

Iâve considered buying a motorbike or a scooter, but theyâre not safe â Even with the ability to keep up with traffic Iâll still be subjected to idiots who canât drive, with only flimsy armour and a silly helmet to protect me. Transporting goods is also an issue â You can strap nearly anything to a bicycle if you know how, but you arenât allowed to do that with a motorbike.

Iâve even considered importing one of those auto rickshaw TukTuk things from India â At least Iâll be visible to other road users in one, but they seem to be a bit primitive. While safer than both a motorbike and a bicycle, they still have safety issues, and go about half the speed of a scooter for roughly the same fuel efficiency.

Are there any other options that I havenât considered? Many thanks if you read this far.

Answer
I am sure that you have heard the reference to looking at the world with the perspective of someone for whom a glass is always 1/2 empty. Life is full of compromises. You are asking for a mode of transportation that has no compromises.

We might refine that a bit by saying that you are looking for no compromises that you are unwilling to make... but if you are are willing to make compromises then perhaps they are not much of a stretch. You are willing to pay, but you want to pay yesterday's prices. There is something wrong with every form of transportation that you suggest. Very little is based upon statistics or facts but instead upon perception and supposition.

With these conditions it may be impossible to suggest an acceptable alternative. I might suggest instead that you examine instead the decision making process and do a bit more research in the outer world.

Best of luck to you, I hope you find what you need.

Whats it like driving a motorbike?

Q. Does it take a lot of practice driving a motorbike or is it easy to drive?

How would you go about getting lessons and when you go for your test is your examiner on the bike behind you?

Answer
Yes it does take some practice. This is considered heavy machinery (just like a car) and can be very dangerous or deadly if one does not develop some skill level. For normal cruising or street riding, one would only need to know how to properly operate the motorcycle and some emergency maneuvers for those risky moments.

In order to be very good at motorcycling, one would first need to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Basic RiderCourse. This course will teach you everything you need to know to basically ride a motorcycle in common traffic. The course instructors provide the motorcycles and the helmets, all the rider needs to provide is eye protection, a long sleeve shirt, pants and shoes that cover the ankles (like work boots). The course instructor will have his own motorcycle (he does not ride behind you on the same bike) and he will teach you slowly how to ride a motorcycle, how to shift, turn, brake etc. He will also set up a track for you to go through (after demonstrating what is expected of the rider). The course is taught so that it is very very easy to ride a motorcycle. If you can ride a bicycle, you can easily learn how to ride a motorcycle. It's definitly not hard but requires some work. AND DONT LET YOUR FRIENDS TEACH YOU HOW TO RIDE!! YOU WILL VERY LIKELY GET HURT IN THE FUTURE!!! (statistically those who got into accidents in the first six months of riding were taught by a friend).

To compare riding a motorcycle to a car. A car is essentially a glass room with a steering wheel. you turn a wheel and see (and slightly feel) the car move one way or the other. Riding a motorcycle is much more engaging. you dont just turn a wheel and push down on pedals. you use your whole body to move 'with' the bike, almost like dancing with a partner. you feel the senation of the wind and feel exposed and in your environment (as opposed to an enclosed A/C room), you smell the smell in the air (trees, fresh-cut grass, delicious food cooking in a restaurant), feel the heat of the sun warm your body, the bike vibrating underneath you, the sound of the motor etc. It is MUCH more engaging and, while you are exposed to more danger, have a better connection with your vehicle and the world, this provides enjoyment in ways cars cannot do (even really expensive ones). This is just one of the many reasons we ride.

Is it better to get a slightly larger helmet or smaller (motorbike)?

Im buying a helmet online soon and i measured my head, and its 57cm's above my ears all the way round. According to a chart im a size medium, but im wondering if i should get a small size just so it figs snug?

Any advice would be amazing, thanks.

Answer
Measure your head accurately and use that measurement. If a helmet is too tight you will be very uncomfortable within minutes, unable to put on glasses, no doo-rag, and itchy hair.

Too loose of a fit lowers the protection. My advice is to go to a store and try them on.

how do you clean a visor on a motorbike helmet?

Jim_560

Answer
Don't use glass cleaner. The visor isn't glass, and glass cleaner will damage it.

When we're on the road, I keep a small can of Plexxus in my tank bag, along with a microfiber cloth. This works great, and never leaves streaks.

At home, I have very good luck with warm water on a microfiber cloth. Wipe on the water, let it sit a minute, then wipe off gently.

I don't use soap, some soaps can leave a film you won't see until you're riding.

I want to know what makes it unique(saints row,and past GTA games)

Answer
thye go tons of detail in the city thye said you can even see gras in sidewallsk
the streets look differnet depending where you in the city i mean the street it self not just how many cars there is and that
you will not see the same person with same suits of clothing on the same street
Gameplay
After the initial load sequence, there are no loading sequences during gameplay. A Rockstar spokesperson claimed, "you can basically play the game from beginning to end without a single load screen."[25]

Titles in the GTA series have traditionally been heavily mission based (fixed missions must be completed to progress through each game), but the freedom to explore and play outside of the set missions in GTA IV will now be more relevant to progress through the game, according to comments by a Rockstar spokesperson: "We're really trying to blur the line between on-[mission] and off-mission. So storyline, and what you do outside [it], and how those two things influence each other."[25]

Niko will be able to perform a variety of new actions such as climbing telephone poles and fire escapes, pushing people who bump into him, calling women for dates,[26] playing darts and bowling. Niko may become intoxicated, causing him to stumble and the camera to blur and bounce about.

The player will not be able to fly any fixed-wing aircraft.[27] However, helicopters will be flyable. Francis International Airport (from Grand Theft Auto III) is confirmed to be in the game.

It is possible to have multiple active missions, due to the fact that some missions will run over the course of several days and will require the player to wait for further instructions, etc.[28]

The use of the mobile phone has been expanded to perform multiple actions. When selecting the mobile phone, a zoomed-in version of the phone pops up in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and a list of several commands are made available to the player, such as "meet me here," etc. Retrying a failed mission can be performed by accessing the menu.
The player can take photos with the mobile phone and upload them to the police computer. Niko can dial 911 to call the police for them to arrest an enemy/pedestrian that is fighting/shooting at him, or just to trick them into wasting resources on a false alarm. He can also contact the paramedics and the fire station.[29]

Stealing a parked car can no longer be done simply by opening the door and driving off. Now, it involves Niko approaching the car, breaking the glass, and hotwiring it; only then can he use it. The way Niko enters the car would look different each time depending on where and how he is in relation to the car. There will be several animation variations to sneaking up to a car and breaking its window. Because of the Euphoria engine, the way the character will approach the car will be completely random.
Players will be able to choose from five different camera views while in a car, including a dashboard view, two outside views near and far from the car, a road view, and a cinematic view.[citation needed] The new chase cam will follow the player but focus the camera direction on a target vehicle.[30]
All cars feature a standard GPS device while more expensive vehicles have voice-navigation GPS. Car damage physics have been greatly improved.[citation needed] When major collisions on motorbikes occur, the player's helmet is likely to fall off. Niko can lose health if he crashes. Vehicles will not explode if they are flipped over.
When driving in a car the player will be able to smash the window with his elbow, free-aim, and fire out of the broken window with any weapon in Niko's arsenal.[31]
The gunfight system has been reworked to feel natural by using a cover system similar to that of Gears of War and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, as the combat system in previous games was awkward and cumbersome.[32] The player can slide to cover, blindfire, and free aim. When locked on, the target's health is indicated by eight purple segments on the target circle. Players can now target individual body parts using a revamped targeting system.[33] Niko's health is represented by a green semi-circle on the left side of the radar, and a right semi-circle represents armour. If Niko gets injured, he can recover health by eating, sleeping or using medical kits. Body armour and actual health will play different roles. Health is more likely to be reduced by falls and going through the windscreen of a car when crashing, Body armour will be damaged more by gunshots and stab wounds.[34]
Notable weapons in this game other than melee fighting with fists and knives include pistols, submachine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, and molotov cocktails.[35]
Niko will be able to visit comedy clubs and cabarets in the game.[36]
There will be no jet-packs, bicycles, parachutes or tanks[37]
There is now an autosave that activates after completing a mission.[38]
Every street in Liberty City contains a physical sign with a name on it.[citation needed]
The vehicle GPS systems in Grand Theft Auto IV can be used to display the best route to take on a mission which requires you to travel to a different place. This route is marked on the map.[citation needed]

NPC behaviour
According to Dan Houser, "virtually none of the characters from the previous games are returning, as a lot of them are dead anyway."[39]
Police and wanted levels will now operate differently. When the police are in search of Niko, the player will now have to avoid a certain radius marked on the map in which the police will be looking for him. The size of this radius will increase with the player's wanted level (the more stars, the bigger the radius) and re-centres itself on Niko's location if he is spotted by the police. Instead of utilizing the "Pay 'N' Spray" as in previous games, Niko has to realistically disguise himself by clandestinely changing vehicles in empty areas such as parking garages, a feature seen in the video game Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. When on foot, police will not shoot at Niko unless he has committed a serious offence. If they catch up to Niko, he will put his hands up and the player will have the option to attempt to escape before the handcuffs are slapped on.[33] Additionally, pedestrians with cellphones can now report crimes.[40][41]
Interpersonal relationships are now dynamic; ignoring cell phone calls or refusing help will change the attitude of specific characters towards Niko.[33]
Pedestrians are much more intelligent, realistic, and diverse, using mobile phones, cash machines, eating snacks, drinking soda, reading newspapers, scratching their noses, coughing, smoking, and interacting with each other through laughter and remarks. Homeless people will be seen in alleys rubbing their hands over a flaming barrel, sitting against walls, asking for spare change, and other expected actions.[citation needed] The flow of pedestrians and traffic will be different depending on the time of day. Pedestrians and motorists will often act as good Samaritans and aid characters that Niko is attacking or carjacking.[33]

Environment
Niko's outfit can be changed throughout the game. However, it will not be possible to customise his physique or hairstyle as in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, as Dan Houser explained: "We want this installment to focus more on interacting with other in-game people other than yourself."
When Niko goes to the hospital, he has to pay $100 and he will keep his weapons. When Niko gets arrested, he has to pay more than $100 and he will lose his weapons.
In a police vehicle, Niko can use an in-car computer to access the criminal database and discover information about various criminals in Liberty City, possibly including himself.[42]
The player can hail a cab in order to travel to any address in the city. When riding, the player has the option of viewing the journey from the inside, or skipping it to arrive at the destination immediately.[citation needed] The player will be able to ask the driver to change the radio station by pressing D-pad left or right.
Niko will make use of the Internet as a means of communication. Although the exact details of the role of the Internet in the game are being kept secret, it has been revealed that Niko can access the internet from various cyber cafés, one of which is called "TW@" (twat) in order to upload a resume for prospective employers.[40] There are over 100 accessible, fictitious websites within the game. Although TW@ was seen early in Grand Theft Auto III, it did not give the player the option to "surf the internet".[43]
Every street in the game will have a name; some missions will require the player to go to a specific address.[44]
A day in Liberty City is forty-eight minutes long (one game hour lasts two minutes in real time), instead of twenty-four minutes as in previous Grand Theft Auto titles.[45]
Some meetings in the game will take place high in the buildings of skyscrapers, which will subsequently allow Niko to throw people off the buildings. However, Niko will not be able to access all the buildings in the game

what are all the features gta iv will have?

spiky13

what would you like to see in gta iv?

Answer
After the initial load sequence, there are no loading occurrences when entering/exiting buildings or crossing islands. The extent of the no-load-time expectation in the game has also been commented on; a Rockstar spokesperson claimed, "you can basically play the game from beginning to end without a single load screen."[10]
Thanks to the new engine, the graphics have been greatly improved in terms of the characters. There are fewer straight edges on characters and motions seem much more fluid. Rockstar aficionados noted that the game lacked the character's signature hand design, which many of them described as the "deformed lobster claw". This was welcomed by many game critics, who claimed that the Grand Theft Auto series did not graphically evolve as much as other titles had with each subsequent release.
Details demonstrated how variations in the terrain cause the way the character walks to change. The way the player moves is controlled by a physics engine instead of pre-written animations, therefore enabling character movements to be more realistic. Rockstar Games announced that Euphoria by NaturalMotion would be used in future Rockstar titles, confirming that Euphoria would indeed be used in the game.[14]
The faster the player taps a controller button, the faster Niko runs.

When driving in a car the player will be able to press the left shoulder button to smash the window with his elbow, free aim using the right analogue stick and fire out of the broken window with either a pistol or machine gun.[15]
