bicycle helmets walmart image

I am 17 and I will be getting my license within a couple months. The problem is I will be applying for jobs soon that where offered to me and will have no transportation until I acquire my license. Is it unreasonable to ride a taxi to work every day? Would that be too expensive? say it is within 5 miles of my home? No rude comments, just a simple explanation thankyou.
Answer
Yeah, that's too expensive. Take the bus as close as you can then walk the rest of the way. Riding a bicycle is dangerous in big cities unless you do what I do & stay off the 4 lane roads unless you are just crossing them. You can ride a bike through the neighborhoods though, that's not very dangerous as long as you wear a helmet & have led battery lights if riding at night. Bell has a really good lighting system now at walmart. 2 piece set with headlight & tailight. I use the energy saving setting with rechargeables & I've probably used it 20 times & I have yet to recharge the batteries.

i would recomend a rechargable battery powerd bicycle headlight that clamps to the handle bars .. maybe two of em? one on each side .. i think they would be bright enough for the trail n hold a long enough charge for a good ride check out ebay .. or walmart w/e floats ur boat
another thought would be helmet lights they have them made for motorcycle helemets and a rechargable battery pack that you put in your pocket or clip to your pants and it comes with a charger, they have cheaper versions made for bicycle helmets that might work just as good
heres one on ebay, im sure you can find them cheaper though

personaly when i had this problem i took a cordless drill battery "i had 5 in rotation for my dewalt drill" and a pair of car /truck aftermarket fog lights from walmart made some brackets to mount them and the battery on the forks
and went night ridinn hope it helps!!!
